WHAT VOLUNTEERS DO IN OUR PROJECT
The main task of volunteers in our project with is teaching English. We have many classes for many kinds of students. For more detail about classes, you should take a look at our homepage.
What classes will you teach in our project?
In different time we have different types of classes for different kinds of students because we need to ask the permission from authority to organise them. Your teaching schedule will be sent to you week by week and in the first day of week. You have to follow the teaching schedule strictly. Sometimes we have some changes in teaching schedule, we will send you the updated one at least 2 days before.
How about working time?
You will work less than 20 hours/week, less than 5 hours/day, at least 1 day off in a week (we do not count traveling time for working time).
Our classes are often in the morning (from 9am to 11am), in the evening (from 5:30pm to 9:30pm) in the weekday. Sometimes we still have classes in other time or on the weekend. You should be ready to work even on the weekend.
What do you teach?
We have the material already. You have to follow our material and teaching schedule.
For teaching methods, we apply the modern ones to help students to practice more in the classes. We also have e-learning system to support in teaching. You should make a research by yourself about the modern teaching methods, have creative and attractive ways to convey lessons, interact frequently with students.
Do you have any supporters in your classes?
We often try to arrange some local tutors who are good at English to support you in every classes. You need to have the meetings with them frequently to improve the performance. However, they are sometimes busy and can not join all of your lessons, you should be ready to work alone and independently.
Besides teaching, what do you do?
We also organise some activities such as team building, cooking for patients in hospitals, hanging out, travelling around Hanoi, cross-culture day. You will be always busy with our volunteering activities.
What should you do out of teaching schedules and volunteering activities?
You can take a rest and explore Vietnam by yourself. When you teach in our project, your student will be your tour guide or accompany. It will be awesome when you have local people to go with you and show you the interesting places and foods which only know by Vietnamese people. If you go travelling by tour, you are hardly to know it.

Clothing Most of the communities we work with are modest in their public attire and conservative in their social attitudes. We are guests in their culture and so we too dress modestly and respect their values and traditions. Avoid short skirts, singlet tops and any display of cleavage or stomach area.

You will almost certainly be involved in teaching English, whether formally in a class situation or informally when speaking casually with locals. Avoid offensive language, swearing or cursing.
Always consider your behavior in the context of the culture you are in. Aggressive behavior is unacceptable at any time in nearly all cultures but is particularly unacceptable in Asian societies
